Here I am, brain the size of a planet...

Looks like the walk did me good

Tuesday, 3rd May 2005 9:30 pm

After the ever-so-slightly high figures of the last couple of days, it was something of a relief to see this morning’s weight was back down to a far more reasonable 202.8 pounds (14 stone 6.8 pounds, 92.0kg). Just below the psychologicackle 14½ stone mark, which is always a Good Thing. :grin

Today’s activity was limited to walking into Gateshead to get the bus to the MetroCentre, and walking back home after returning from there. I’ll be reporting on what I did at the MetroCentre later…

That’s what lazy Sundays do to me

Monday, 2nd May 2005 11:22 pm

Yes, no change on the weight this morning - 206.0 pounds (14 stone 10 pounds, 93.4kg).

After a relaxed morning, I went out for the afternoon. A nice walk into Newcastle - sun shining, quite warm. As it was that rare occurrence, a Bank Holiday without rain, the shops were not all that busy, so I was able to get a couple of essential DVDs[1] without having to queue for ages. All very nice.

Wandered around town, strolled around some quiet areas I rarely visit including Blackfriars, which dates back to the 13th century. I decided to take a different route home, so I went down to the Quayside, crossed over the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, had a quick look in BALTIC, where once again the most interesting sight was the view from the observation gallery.

From there, I walked up the steps[4] to The Sage Gateshead. What with one thing and another[5], I hadn’t actually got round to going there before, so I took the opportunity to have a look inside. Ooooooh. It’s nice. It has to be said that the inside of that lovely roof[6] doesn’t look as nice as the outside, but it is still impressive. And the view is impressive too. Now all I’ve got to do is get round to seeing a performance there…

After that, I made my way home. I’m not sure how far I walked overall, but it felt like a long way!

[1] Reviews soon![2]
[2] Well, fairly soon![3]
[3] And I’m not telling you what they are yet!
[4] My left knee started to complain about this :cry
[5] Inertia, mostly :cheesy:
[6] You can see some pictures in my Gateshead Quays Gallery

Ooooopsie

Not sure how that happened, but this morning’s weight was up three pounds to 206.0 pounds (14 stone 10 pounds, 93.4kg). Might be the lazy day and eating a bit yesterday, or just random wossnames. I’m sure it will go down again in a day or two, so I’m not going to worry about it.

A good start to the weekend

Saturday, 30th April 2005 9:26 pm

A nice Saturday figure of 203.0 pounds (14 stone 7 pounds, 92.1kg). Not planning on any major activity…

More progress

Friday, 29th April 2005 9:23 pm

And at the end of the week, my weight was down a wee bit more to 203.2 pounds (14 stone 7.2 pounds, 92.2kg).

Now there’s a long weekend ahead, where I aim to take it very easy. Actually, it’s a very long weekend, as I’ve got next week off :grin

Down a bit again

Thursday, 28th April 2005 9:18 pm

Thursday’s exciting weight figure was 204.4 pounds (14 stone 8.4 pounds, 92.7kg).

Walked to and from work again, but that was the limit of my exercise activity again.

Up a teeny weeny bit

Wednesday, 27th April 2005 8:13 pm

A slight rise this morning to 204.8 pounds (14 stone 8.8 pounds, 92.9kg).

The weather was a lot better today, so walking to and from work was quite pleasant. I even wore my trendy designer sunglasses.

Still on a break from the exercise routine - I’m aiming to start again at the weekend, and do as much as I can next week, as I won’t be at work. If the weather and my motivation keep up, I’ll have a couple of day trips to somewhere or other. Quite possibly a good walk along the coast to Souter Lighthouse, which I haven’t been to in quite a few years. We shall see.

Going down (and so’s Enterprise)

Tuesday, 26th April 2005 10:55 pm

A slight improvement in my weight today: 204.6 pounds (14 stone 8.6 pounds, 92.8kg).

Watched Star Trek: Enterprise, which is creaking towards its conclusion. After the third season’s single running storyline[1], which actually worked rather well, and made me think that the series might not be completely dire, for the fourth (and final, as it turned out) season, they’ve been going for three-parters. Oh. Dear. Please. No. There’s nothing intrinsically[2] wrong with three-part stories, but so far we’ve had looooooong duuuuuulll drawn out bits that look like space fillers. And they’re raiding the Trek vaults in a rather icky manner. Oooh!!! It’s a young T’Pau! I was just relieved that none of the Vulcans we’ve met have turned out to be a young Sarek. But there’s another episode to come in the current unlikely story[3], so it may yet happen. Losing it[1] readers will probably hear me scream if it does.

Enterprise was always an oddity. It looked like they were trying to appeal to a “wider” audience than previous series, which is presumably why it starts with that bloody awful song and didn’t have the words “Star” and “Trek” in its title for the first couple of years. And by trying to appeal to everyone they managed to appeal to, well, not exactly no-one, but not a lot of people. And I still can’t deal with Scott thingy from Quantum Leap being in Trek. Mutter.

[1] Or “arc” as Hollyweird types apparently like to call that kind of thing
[2] This week’s big word
[3] Vulcans turning nasty, blowing up Earth embassy, loony xenophobic leaders, that kind of thing[4]
[4] And if I wanted to watch that, there’s more than enough party political broadcasts on at present :rolleyes

Still too high, but at least I’m not so low

Monday, 25th April 2005 8:02 pm

Well, I did drink a whole bottle of wine last night[1], so I’m not surprised that this morning’s weight was the same as yesterday’s at 205.4 pounds (14 stone 9.4 pounds, 93.2kg).

Started the day feeling generally low, but by the time I left the office, I was feeling a lot better. But I’m taking at least another night off the exercise programme - I feel like a rest would be a Good Thing at the moment.

[1] It’s Tesco’s fault - they’ve got 30% off Australian wine, and they had the always reliable Wolf Blass Yellow Label Cabernet Sauvgignon in stock, so I had to get a couple. And waddaya know, the 2003 WBYL[2] has now matured to the point of serious gluggability.[3]
[2] As its friends know it :cheesy:
[3] It’s one of those wines that really does improve with age. When a new vintage first appears, it’s really nothing special, but given time, it turns into something quite special.

Return of the bloat?

Sunday, 24th April 2005 10:02 pm

Now this is getting ridickerous. This morning’s weight was back up to an excessively high 205.4 pounds (14 stone 9.4 pounds, 93.2kg).

Been feeling generally down all day, so I didn’t feel like starting the usual exercise routine this evening. Mutter, mutter, etc.
