WordPress 2.3.1 is out

WordPress 2.3 has been out for just over a month now, and it’s generally been behaving itself quite well. I did have some technical issues, but they were resolved with a patch in good time. Anyway, various other bugs and issues have now been fixed, and WordPress 2.3.1 is now available.

This is mostly a bug fix, but there is at least one potential security issue that’s been dealt with, so if you’re using WordPress 2.3, you are strongly recommended to upgrade immediately.

If you’re already on WordPress 2.3, this should be a simple upgrade[1], but if you’re on an earlier version, you do need to read up a bit. Some themes and plugins will not work and will give you rude error messages. Best to check on a test blog if you have one, and if you haven’t got one, get one sorted out if you can.

One of the developers, best known as westi, has produced a list of the major changes this time round. I’ve obviously been playing with this stuff for far too long, as I understood at least some of it.

[1] Especially if you use Brian Layman’s EasyWPUpdate script, which did it in seconds for me…
